Announced as of today 29 Olympic gold coins commemorating the Beijing Olympic Games will go on sale fetching a measly $1million dollars.

Set in Gold at full carat weighing in at 32lbs. This makes it the heaviest commemorative coin but not the most expensive. This is not the first time the spirit of the games have been used for currency purposes. As far back as the ancient Greek Olympics had special coins made up in honor of the games. First one is believed to be produced in 687 B.C.

However it is only for legal Tender in China! Imagine trying to get your change at a local street vender for some squid on a stick with that!
