Those crazy guys from the Gorillaz are to produce the music on BBC's Olympics coverage.
Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are creating the title sequences for the channel's coverage of the Beijing Olympics and hopefully produce an official Team GB theme.
"Monkey and the characters will travel across China to Beijing," Hewlett explained. "While they will use magical powers to fight off various monsters and demons, they'll also use all sorts of Olympic sports as well. So Monkey might use gymnastic powers, Pigsy will be hurdling and Sandy uses tae kwon do."
I think we can agree this will be a light hearted production of which you can find out more here

Standing on the tube platform today(tube is London subway) I realized something very fundamentally wrong with London's infrastructure. The stations are tiny relative to the amount of people who use them.
So i thought it best to track down planned upgrades for these stations in time for the London games 2012.
From the looks of things all major zone 1(London central zone) lines will be revamped in time for the Olympics however I really am struggling to understand how they will be able to increase the platform sizes 300m under London town with out causing serious service disruption prior to the games.

Government propaganda about how they are going to make the water blue again and create thousands of new jobs and homes while they are at it. Amusing reading just for the purely 'optimistic' perspective they are using.

Excuse me, but why the hell are the various governments making the people who live in London pay for the Olympics? I think I've missed something. Even CHINA hasn't slugged its citizens for the Beijing games. Are they expecting the Londoners to rent out their homes during the games to make oodles of money? Or perhaps everyone is going to suddenly find more employment for the three whole weeks that the games are on that it will justify the years and years of extra taxes paid? Just out of curiosity, how much extra taxes are the businesses who are going to make a year's profit in 3 weeks paying?? Anyways, this story is about an 80yo pensioner who is being threatened with gaol because she is 2 years behind on her olympic taxes and is fighting paying them at all. Good on her.
