Since its been a while since I last posted a news item I thought I'd give everyone an overview of the myriad of stories posted to date.
First, the most important news is all about me. I've learnt how to make teddy bears and that's what's been taking up all my time readers. So my apologies for that, but they are really addictive.
London News
So far we have brought you stories on:
- Boris Johnson's ability to do the job,
- the plans to make the Thames Pretty before the games,
- a granny being threatened with gaol by a London Council for not paying Olympic tax,
- MP's pretending to be not happy with escalating costs but also saying they had already planned for them,
- Chris working out the Tube is already at capacity and finding out how they plan to get more people on the tube
- and how to tell if your tour guide is qualified.
Team GB
Starting with my personal favourite, sailing, here's the Team GB stories so far:
- HELLO NICK ROGERS
- the rest of the sailing team here
- more reasons to support the sailing team here
- the Team GB

Standing on the tube platform today(tube is London subway) I realized something very fundamentally wrong with London's infrastructure. The stations are tiny relative to the amount of people who use them.
So i thought it best to track down planned upgrades for these stations in time for the London games 2012.
From the looks of things all major zone 1(London central zone) lines will be revamped in time for the Olympics however I really am struggling to understand how they will be able to increase the platform sizes 300m under London town with out causing serious service disruption prior to the games.

It appears the latest craze in the Beijing region and city is to name ones child Aoyun. Approximately 4100 children have been named this in the spirit of the approaching Olympic games. The name roughly translates to Olympic games.
Chinese consider this name to bring prosperity and good luck to the 2008 Beijing Games as well as there families.
However this is not the first time this name has been a craze. Registrations started back as early as 1992.

American womens basketball star Becky Hammon is rumored to be a descendant of the great Russian Duchess Anastasia! According to legend the Romanov lineage ended in 1918 when they were overthrown and executed. However DNA has proven Hammon to be of Russian decent allowing her to play for team Russia in the upcoming Olympic games in Beijing.
Reports are suggesting that she has chosen to play for Russia despite controversy from her home town in San Antonio. However her decision seemed to be based on which team would take her.

Easy to use website of Chinese News aimed mostly at non-chinese viewers but still provides a better insight into what China is thinking than the BBC.

Government propaganda about how they are going to make the water blue again and create thousands of new jobs and homes while they are at it. Amusing reading just for the purely 'optimistic' perspective they are using.

Did you know tour guides need to be nearly as qualified and as heavily regulated as professions like nursing? Makes the Cabbie Quiz seem minor really. Website of one of the many tour guide companies operating in London that is already pushing their wares for the 2012 olympics. Would be good reading if you're from out of town and were planning a tour of london before the olympic rush. All the details here

Today I decided to actually stop and look at the athletes representing Great Britain and I have to say I'm thoroughly disappointed. Granted there's a couple of lookers in the swimming, but once you get a swim cap and goggles on them they all look the same.
However, there is hope on the horizon, I have discovered the sport I'll be watching... and its sailing. Now I don't know if this sport has always had the good looking men or not, I've never paid it any attention at all. But I have to say HELLO NICK ROGERS
the rest of the team isn't too bad either with one notable exception that I'm going to chose to not mention. They can be found here
