China has announced that it will be setting up offices near olympic venues for tourists to have easy access to complaints departments should the need arise. It is part of their plan to be more open in transactions with foreigners.
The aim is to encourage tourists to buy more than food and postcards while in China for the games.

China seems to be overly concerned with the amount of foreigners planning to stay after the olympic games. Visa restrictions tend to be increasing and day to day life generally getting harder for all it appears as the government tightens its grip on its citizens.

MPs are a little concerned with the rising costs of the Olympic Games. Although some areas have more then quadrupled in expected costs they are still confident the expenditure will fall within the contingency budget. More here

Jeez not much hope of getting some last minute tickets to the olympics: "BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The third round sale of domestic Olympic tickets for Beijing venues have been sold out within two days after the sales started at 9 a.m. on Monday, according to the Olympics' official website." Qomolangma) is a once-in-life chance for the Chinese climbers as mountaineering is not a competitive sport and hardly listed in the Olympic family, so the ascent can serve as an opportunity to make our own contribution to the Beijing Olympics.
